Job Title:  Clinical Nutrition Manager                                                   

Job Summary:  Plans, coordinates and manages all patient nutritional care activities.  Develops and implements cost effective, profit generating nutritional programs.  Supervises clinical staff in the Nutritional Services Department.  Meets all regulatory compliance regulations and standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes, maintains and implements policies, standards of care and programs in the Nutritional Services Department.
  • Coordinates and directs the clinical activities, including standards determining nutritional intervention to assure the patients at highest risk receive appropriate, timely care.
  • Determines appropriate staffing levels for clinical staff in the Nutritional Services Department.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety.
  • Develops nutritional care plans for patients of any age including child, adolescent, adult, geriatric and terminally ill patients.
  • Improves patient’s nutritional status by consulting with physician on appropriate nutritional interventions.
  • Supervises Nutrition Office activities including nutritional care order processing, menu correction and communication to ensure compliance to standards.
  • Orders and controls materials and resources to effectively ensure the quality and availability of supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Wears identification while on duty.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control.
  • Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directive to staff and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proof of passing the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or the National Board Examination for Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN).
  • Participates in continuing educational requirements to maintain registration.
