Position Summary
Williamson Health and Wellness Center, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Optician to join our team. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable healthcare services to underserved populations. The Optician will play a key role in delivering exceptional optical care, including fitting, adjusting, and dispensing eyewear, while ensuring a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
· Patient Care: Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their vision needs, preferences, and budget. Provide detailed explanations of lens options, frames, and eyewear maintenance.
· Fitting and Dispensing: Accurately measure and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses. Ensure proper alignment, adjustments, and repairs to ensure optimal comfort and function.
· Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring a positive experience throughout the optical process.
· Inventory Management: Manage and maintain optical inventory, including ordering, stocking, and tracking of frames and lenses. Ensure all products meet quality and safety standards.
· Collaboration: Work closely with the clinic optometrist to support comprehensive eye care. Assist in patient education regarding eye health, corrective lenses, and preventive care.
· Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate patient records, including prescription information and eyewear orders. Ensure compliance with health center policies and regulations. General office duties (phone, fax, insurance verification, etc).
· Professional Development: Stay current with industry trends, advancements in optical technology, and best practices. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
· Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent; ABO certified candidate preferred.

· Experience: Previous experience as an optician in a healthcare setting is preferred. Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or similar environment is a plus.
· Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Proficiency in optical measurements and adjustments. Basic computer skills and familiarity with optical software.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
· Capable of lifting and moving optical equipment and inventory as needed.
