Position Summary:

Williamson Health and Wellness Center, Inc. (WHWC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our integrated healthcare team. This role involves providing both primary and behavioral health care for adolescent and adult populations within a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The provider will support WHWC’s mission of delivering comprehensive, quality care by addressing physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs through integrated and trauma-informed approaches.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments including physical exams, mental health evaluations, and psychosocial histories.
  • Provide brief interventions and treatment planning for psychological/psychiatric conditions including substance use and chronic mental health disorders.
  • Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
  • Participate in the treatment and monitoring of patients enrolled in the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program.
  • Initiate, adjust, and manage pharmacological treatments in collaboration with supervising physicians as appropriate.
  • Provide education on disease management, medications, preventive care, and lifestyle changes.
  • Evaluate crisis situations and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Deliver patient care services in collaboration with physicians, behavioral health clinicians, case managers, and other team members.
  • Refer patients to specialty services and community resources as needed.

Programmatic & Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and adjust based on outcomes.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings and case reviews.
  • Document all patient interactions and treatments accurately and in a timely manner using the electronic medical record (EHR).
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives including UDS, ACO, and HEDIS metrics in coordination with the Quality Director.
  • Participate in the development and review of clinical protocols and policies.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and provide peer or community-based education as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited PMHNP program AND FNP program.
  • Current licensure or eligible for licensure in the state of West Virginia.
  • DEA license with prescriptive authority.
  • Knowledge of behavioral medicine, evidence-based practices, and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong skills in communication, critical thinking, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with electronic health records (E-Clinical Works preferred).
  • Prefer 1 year of clinical experience in a public health, rural, or underserved setting; however, new graduates will be considered.
