Position Summary
The School Health Prevention Coordinator supports all Mingo County schools by providing health education and Tier 1–2 mental health services while helping students connect to Tier 3 behavioral health supports when higher-level care is needed. This position works closely with school counselors, families, community partners, and the West Virginia Expanded School Mental Health (ESMH) program to ensure that every student has access to meaningful health education, prevention resources, and early intervention services. The Coordinator plays a key role in aligning school-based prevention efforts with Williamson Health & Wellness Center’s broader behavioral health system.

Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with school counselors, staff, and families across all Mingo County schools to identify student needs, deliver onsite Tier 1–2 health education services, and ensure underserved schools receive consistent support.
- Develop and maintain a county-wide health education calendar in partnership with schools and community organizations.
- Coordinate school-based health education events and update community calendars (e.g., mingowv.com) with support from the Prevention Coalition, Family Resource Center, Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce, and other partners.
- Facilitate student groups, classroom lessons, and parent-focused activities that promote positive school environments; ensure students requiring additional support are connected to Tier 3 behavioral health services.
- Collaborate with WHWC behavioral health teams to integrate school-based prevention efforts with clinical services and referral pathways.
- Collect and report required ESMH metrics; maintain accurate documentation of activities, outcomes, and services delivered.
- Build positive, supportive relationships with students, school staff, families, and co-workers to foster a welcoming and encouraging environment.

Qualifications
- Experience in health education, prevention, youth programming, or school-based mental health preferred.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
- Knowledge of Tier 1–3 mental health supports and the ESMH framework, or willingness to learn.
- Valid West Virginia driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to all county schools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tracking systems, or willingness to learn.

Work Environment
- Frequent travel to all Mingo County schools.
- Standard office setting when not in the field.
- Some evening or weekend hours may be required for community events or parent programming.
